At Rivendell we are dedicated to producing full flavoured wines of outstanding quality complementing the natural beauty of the property under the winemaking direction of James Pennington. We have many wine styles available within our range, both reds and whites, ranging from dry to medium sweet, and we also produce sparklings, and fortifieds.
We offer 2 wine labels from our Cellar Door. "Rivendell" and the premium releases under James' own signature range "Pennington".
James has almost 20 years’ experience in the wine industry including vineyard establishment, winemaking and wine show judging.
The focus at Rivendell is on the production of premium and ultra premium wines. James has produced over 50 award-winning wines at both national and international level shows. Rivendell’s aim is to produce exclusive, boutique wines of outstanding quality to be marketed through selected retail outlets, restaurants and directly to customers, through cellar door sales & mail order, ensuring personalised service and great value.
The grapes are grown in the sheltered valley high up on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge protecting them from the strong winds and capture the morning sunlight with the north-east exposure to allow early ripening. This, combined with free draining granite and laterite gravel soils creates a perfect microclimate for ripening grapes to their fullest flavour.

Private charters, tour groups & buses are all welcome by appointment only
While all care is taken to ensure your wine is received in good condition, unless insurance is taken out, we can take no reponsibility for the wine once it has left Rivendell Wines.
On the rare occasions that incorrect goods are delivered, Rivendell Wines will fully refund or replace the bottles concerned, including return shipping costs, providing we are advised within 14 working days of delivery.
If a wine is found to be corked or faulty we will be happy to offer a replacement or credit as long as notification is given to us within 14 working days of delivery.
In the event that we have run out of an item on your order, we will endeavour to contact you to arrange a replacement.
All wines are offered subject to availability and remain the property of Rivendell Wines until payment is received in full.
Under the Liquor Control Act 1988, it is an offence:
- to sell or supply liquor to a person under the age of 18 years on licensed or regulated premises; or
- for a person under the age of 18 years to purchase, or attempt to purchase, liquor on licensed or regulated premises.
